SIG Mobility meeting 2018 theme: "Rehabilitation in MS: Innovations in research & practice"

Dear colleagues and friends,

We are pleased to announce the next SIG Mobility in-between meeting will be hosted at Glasgow Caledonian University (Scotland, UK) on Friday 28th and Saturday 29th September 2018, with Lorna Paul as the local organiser. The theme of this 2-day meeting will be “Rehabilitation in MS: Innovation in research and practice”. This meeting aims to bring together leading researchers and clinicians to discuss the contemporary and innovative scientific and clinical developments related to rehabilitation of mobility in MS.

Broadly, the programme for the meeting includes keynote speakers, workshops, and free papers. Confirmed keynote speakers include: Professor Chandran (Centre for Regenerative Medicine, Edinburgh University), Morna Simpkins (MS Society Scotland), Tracey Harrison (MS Active together Project), Dr Lars Naesby Hvid (University of Aarhus), Dr Hilary Gunn (University of Plymouth), Dr Blathin Casey (University of Galway). The workshops will be hosted at Revive MS Support and Glasgow Caledonian University, and include “Measuring energy expenditure of activity in MS” and “Physical activity measurement”.

The meeting is kindly sponsored by Rehabilitation in Multiple Sclerosis (RIMS) therefore RIMS members do not pay any registration fees. One night’s free accommodation (Friday only) will be offered to RIMS members at the nearby Holiday Inn Express RIMS members are asked to please consider sharing accommodation) in addition to lunch and refreshments and dinner and ceilidh on Friday evening. Non-RIMS members are welcome to attend the meeting (registration £100 for both days and an additional £30 for the dinner and ceilidh on Friday night). Non-RIMS members are welcome to stay at the Holiday Inn Express or, since Glasgow Caledonian University is located in Glasgow city centre, there are numerous hotels in close proximity. RIMS members who wish to benefit from the one night’s free accommodation and Non-RIMS members who would like the preferential room rate must reserve accommodation with conference organisers (Scott.Rooney@gcu.ac.uk) by 10th August 2018. Registration for both RIMS and non-RIMS members will be open until 21st September 2018.

We are pleased to announce that the call for abstracts for the 2018 SIG Mobility meeting in Glasgow is now open. Abstracts should be submitted as a word document conforming to the guidelines below. Abstracts should be sent to SigMobility@gcu.ac.uk. The closing date for abstracts is Friday 27th of July 2018.
