The call for new RIMS Executive Board Members is open until December 9!

  • Application documents: CV and motivation letter
  • Elections: General Assembly at Annual Conference 2020 (June 5, 2020)
  • Period: from Annual Conference 2020 (June 2020) until Annual Conference 2023

If you wish to put yourself forward for an Executive Board position, please send in your CV and motivation letter to the RIMS Secretariat by Monday December 9, 2019 (23:59 Brussels time). Only applications from RIMS members will be taken into account. More information can be found on the euRIMS website.

RIMS Annual Conference 2020, 4-6 June 2020, Leuven

Registrations and abstract submission for the Annual RIMS Conference are open! This year's Annual Conference of RIMS (Rehabilitation in MS) will take place in Leuven, Belgium from Thursday, June 4 to Saturday, June 6, 2020. The conference is organized in partnership with KU Leuven and the National MS Center Melsbroek.

The conference main theme will be "Collaborate and Engage in Personalised Rehabilitation". Have a look at the Conference website for more information.

Upcoming SIG Communication & Swallowing in-between meeting, 16-17 January 2020, Turku & Masku

On January 16 and 17, our next in-between meeting will take place in Finland! Leena Maria Heikkola will host us in Turku and Masku.
On Thursday we will have a guided tour at the Masku Neurological Rehabilitation Centre and different presenters will talk about communication and swallowing in MS. The next day at the University of Turku will be our 'Cognitive Communication' day with presentations on recent studies on questionnaires and tests for naming and pragmatics and with time scheduled to work out ideas for a RIMS grant proposal.

Past SIG Mobility in-between meeting, 28-29 October 2019, Tel Aviv

SIG chair Carme Santoyo and co-chair Lousin Moumdjian hosted the 22nd SIG Mobility in-between meeting in Tel Aviv! The SIG Mobility group gathered on the 28th and 29th October 2019 at the Sackler Faculty of Medicine, Tel-Aviv University and the MS Center at Sheba Medical Center in Hashomer, Israel.

This meeting, entitled: ‘Brain, cognition and movement in MS: challenges for rehabilitation’, was attended by 67 delegates from 14 different countries (28 from Israel). The full report can be read here.

Past SIG Occupation in-between meeting, 8-9 November 2019, Genova

The past SIG Occupation in-between meeting, which took place in Genova, Italy on 8 and 9 November, was a success! The topic of the meeting was 'Transforming knowledge on technology into relevance for clinical practice'. The participants had a discussion on the use of technologies co-created with PwMS in the occupational therapy setting. The report and pictures will soon be published on the euRIMS website.

EBC - Rethinking MS

On 6 November 2019, The European Brain Council (EBC) and The Health Policy Partnership (HPP) were able to preview the findings of the RETHINKING MS project and present preliminary results in the European Parliament “MEP Interest Group on Brain, Mind and Pain Meeting”.

Prof. Jenny Freeman presented at this event on behalf of RIMS to focus on the importance and possibilities of rehabilitation. The aim of the project being to reduce inequities in access to care across Europe for MS. Have a look at the following thank you letter for more details.

EMULTI-ACT meeting

MULTI-ACT is a EU-funded project (2018-2021) aiming to increase the impact of brain research to provide better brain research for better health by facilitating collaboration between multiple stakeholders. The meeting in Brussels was the first project event aiming to provide a profound introduction of the project and to share the preliminary results of a number of work packages. The event was well attended by representatives of many organizations relevant for brain research, including RIMS. RIMS’ Vice-President Prof. Giampaolo Brichetto gave a presentation about the relevance of patient-reported outcomes. More info can be found on the following website.

MSDA

Last week, on 20 November, RIMS was present at the MS Data Alliance Stakeholders' meeting in Baveno. The MSDA is an initiative of University of Hasselt and EMSP, led by Dr. Liesbeth Peeters, The project aims at bringing together all stakeholders, from patients to researchers, to get more out of the MultipleSclerosis data!
