Ulrik's educational background is as an exercise physiologist. Since 2005, he has worked full time as a researcher with MS rehabilitation as his main area of expertise. In 2009 he defended his Ph.D thesis entitled “Physical exercise and Multiple sclerosis – effects of progressive resistance training” at Aarhus University. Currently, he is employed in a post doc position at Department of Sport Science at Aarhus University.
He is a member of the SIG mobility group within the RIMS organisation. Furthermore, he has participated in the RIMS multicentre study led by the SIG mobility group (Peter Feys) and was responsible for the study in Denmark.
Currently he is also the principal investigator in a Nordic multicentre study on MS and resistance training sponsored by Biogen Idec. In Denmark he is collaborating with the two MS centres and a number of the MS clinics at different hospitals.
